Four years ago today Ryan Mason scored his first ever goal for Tottenham Hotspur. A number of lucky Tottenham fans were able to be there that night when Mason curled a peach from 30-yards to equalise against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup and it’s a moment the fans will never forget.

Mason was always one of football’s good guys and anyone who knew him will remember him for being a classy professional both on and off the pitch. The midfielder was lucky enough to represent his childhood club, wear the famous number 8 shirt, previously donned by the likes of Jimmy Greaves, Steve Perryman and Tim Sherwood, and play on the biggest stage as he received one England cap during his career.
The end of Ryan Mason’s playing days came in a horrible way as the 27-year-old was forced into an early retirement when he suffered a fractured skull when competing for a header against Gary Cahill for Hull City against Chelsea. The midfielder was out for over a year whilst he went through his recovery but eventually, his career had to succumb to his injury and he hung up his boots. The Spurs fans, though, are desperate to see him back at Hotspur Way and would love him to join as a coach in the future.

Tottenham fans will never forget Mason, and whilst things didn’t end the way he would have liked, he will always be considered a legend by Tottenham fans.
