Erik Lamela has been one of Tottenham’s best performers this season, the Argentine attacking midfielder has managed to score an impressive five goals and two assists this season and he started in the club’s Carabao Cup third round tie. Now, though, there are calls for him to be dropped ahead of the West Ham game later tonight.

Lamela even scored the winner when Tottenham travelled to The London Stadium in the Premier League a couple of weekend’s ago. So far this season he really has been the Lilywhites standout player, although his performance on Monday night left plenty of fans wondering if he was up to. Against Manchester City, he struggled to impress and missed an absolute sitter that would have seen Mauricio Pochettino’s side equalise.
The best response from Lamela would be to score another winner against The Hammers tonight, although with Pochettino having to deal with four games in just eight days the chances are he’ll be ringing the changes and Lamela could well drop to the bench in favour of the returning Dele Alli or Christian Eriksen who are both looking to step up their game time as they make a return from injury.

The Spurs fans on Twitter would drop Lamela tonight seeing as he started just 48 hours ago, although he could well make a return for Wolves away on the weekend.
