Tottenham fans on Twitter were over the moon for Gazzaniga on Argentina debut

Last night saw Argentine face Mexico for the second time during this international break, and just like the first clash, they came out 2-0 winners. In the first game between the sides is was Juan Foyth who shone, picking up the man of the match award for his display. However, this time around it was Paulo Gazzaniga who took the plaudits as he registered a clean sheet on his debut.

The goalkeeping position in the Argentinian national squad is up in the air at the moment. Sergio Romero seems to have lost his spot after missing the World Cup with injury whilst the likes of Willy Caballero and Geronimo Rulli have failed to grab their chance to make the #1 jersey their own when given the chance. That’s where Gazzaniga has come in, and after some strong performances for Spurs this season, he shone against Mexico last night.

Hopefully, Gazzaniga can take confidence from yet another bold display and clean sheet and go on to make the goalkeeping spot in the Argentine national team his own. The next step for Gazzaniga will be to try and usurp Hugo Lloris at Tottenham and whilst that will certainly be difficult to do, the 260year-old has shown what he’s made of and there’s no reason why he can’t become the first choice man between the sticks for both club and country.

Tottenham fans love Gazzaniga and will hope he can carry on firing for both club and country this season.
