A number of Tottenham fans have been raving about Giovani Lo Celso after he made a key contribution for Spurs in their FA Cup clash this afternoon.
Jose Mourinho claimed after the game [via @jonathandveal] that the club will take up their option to sign the on-loan midfielder permanently and the 23-year-old Argentina international did his case for a full-time deal no harm against Southampton today. He claimed an assist after playing the pass from which Heung-min Son opened the scoring on 58 minutes before the Saints equalised to force a replay (as per BBC).
Lo Celso’s 75% passing accuracy was the joint-second highest among Tottenham’s side at St Mary’s and he also completed four dribbles as well as being Spurs’ most-fouled player, winning four free kicks for the visitors (as per WhoScored). As noted by Alasdair Gold of Football London, he also had the ball in the Saints’ net in the first half, only for the goal to be chalked off by VAR as Son was offside ahead of him.
Following his impressive afternoon, these Tottenham fans took to Twitter to show their appreciation for the midfielder:
Wow, wow, wow. Lo Celso is bloody brilliant. #THFC
