Tottenham fans react as Marcus Edwards leaves the club

Tottenham Hotspur have a strong recent history of bringing players through the youth system and into the first-team.

The growing careers of the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Kane and Harry Winks all serve to illuminate Tottenham’s policy of promoting players from within, and their net spend in recent years also proves that the club are looking to become as organic as possible whilst their title rivals splurge on new talent in the transfer market.

Regardless of the complaints of supporters who were disappointed with Tottenham’s failure to sign any new players during the summer, it appears to be a policy which is enabling the club to progress.

However, whilst plenty of youth players have successfully made the transition from youth to senior football one player has been struggling to progress, namely Marcus Edwards.

Famously dubbed as a ‘mini Messi’ by Pochettino, Edwards failed to break into the first-team at Norwich City in what was initially supposed to be a short-term loan deal until the end of the season, but he cut his stint short in April after failing to settle in East Anglia.

But it appears Tottenham are not willing to give up on the 19-year-old just yet as The Guardian confirmed on Thursday afternoon that he has joined Excelsior Rotterdam on a season-long loan deal.

In response to the reports, the Tottenham supporters turned out in their numbers to wish the teenager the best of luck for his stint in Holland and urged him to use the experience as a platform from which to launch his stuttering career.

Hope it works out for him. In Poch's book it talks a bit about ME's upbringing and the problems he has.. needs to overcome that and put in the work to make it, just turning up won't be good enough.
