Tottenham fans react to news that Joel Asoro snubbed them in the summer

Tottenham supporters have been pretty downbeat in recent times after seeing their team suffer a first Premier League defeat of the season just prior to the current international break.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men went into their encounter with Watford last weekend off the back of three straight victories to begin the campaign, having got past Newcastle United, Fulham, and Manchester United in that time. And they took the lead at Vicarage Road last time out to suggest that another three points were on their way to North London, only for headers from Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart to seal the victory for Javi Gracia’s Hornets.

Consequently, there have been many disappointed Spurs supporters up and down the country in recent times, several of whom are likely to be interested in a recent report which suggests that Joel Asoro snubbed a move to the North Londoners during the summer.

Joel Asoro has explained why he rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur to sign for Swansea City instead this summer:

The 19-year-old has been playing his football at Sunderland having made the move to the North East as a youth player back in 2015, going on to make 33 senior appearances for the Black Cats, netting three times in the Championship last season as Chris Coleman’s side lost their second tier status.

And while reports over the summer suggested that the Sweden Under-21 international could be headed for Tottenham, other reports suggested that it was Spurs who pulled the plug on the deal, thus allowing the striker to eventually end up signing for Championship club Swansea City.

Yet it appears that Asoro himself snubbed a move to Spurs as a result of concerns over first team football, in news which hasn’t hugely disappointed plenty of Tottenham fans on Twitter…

Of course, I mean from now on every player that comes must be prepared to sit on bench or be left out of the squad because it’s the best squad in PL, the last few games have shown this, best XI we’ve ever had and nobody can improve us, right? Right?
