Tottenham: Fans slam Harry Winks following Chelsea defeat

Plenty of Tottenham fans had their say on Harry Winks’ performance during their side’s 2-1 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday.

The north London side were unable to beat their fierce rivals in an encounter that was billed as a battle between Frank Lampard the student and Jose Mourinho the mentor. Goals from Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso helped to secure the three points for the hosts, though an own goal from Antonio Rudiger gave Spurs a glimmer of hope late on. A lot of criticism was aimed towards the Portuguese tactician after the final whistle, but there was one player, in particular, who was also targeted online.

Winks, who is valued at £36m on TransferMarkt, was slammed for his poor work-rate and lack of concentration in the midfield. He found himself involved in just three duels during the 90 minutes. He did not make any tackles or complete any successful dribbles up the pitch in what was a quiet afternoon for the Englishman, as per SofaScore. Unsurprisingly, supporters were not impressed and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he is either brilliant or he plays like Tom Carroll, referring to his poor consistency, while another described him as “bang average”.
