Tottenham fans have spent a lot of time over the last couple of months watching Troy Parrott tear defences apart for the club’s U18s and more recently the U23s. A lot of them want to see him chanced in the senior squad, and they’re all delighted to see that the 17-year-old Irishman signed his first pro contract yesterday on the day he turned 17.

Parrott is looking like he could be the next big thing coming through at Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino obviously thinks very highly of the youngster and just before he gave up the role, Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill had the youngster earmarked as a senior international, even though the striker was just 16 at the time. So it’s fair to say the potential this lad has it absolutely huge.
Pochettino has used the youngster as his ’19th man’ in the Premier League on a few occasions, meaning that the Irishman has travelled with the matchday squad just in case there’s any sort of injury or illness that rules a player out late on, although he’s yet to make any kind of senior appearance as a starter or a substitute. The future does look bright for Parrott though and under Pochettino’s guidance, he really could go on to be a massive star.
