It really is no secret that the money in football these days is getting silly. However, this potential transfer would take things to a new level. Tottenham are one of a host of Premier League clubs interested in Brentford’s Said Benrahma, however, TEAMtalk has claimed that the Bees are asking for a whopping £30 million for the Algerian.
[@TEAMtalk] understands Brentford have decided to set the asking price of winger and Tottenham Hotspur target Said Benrahma at £30m.
The Algerian has contributed nine goals and 11 assists for the Bees in the Championship and has a contract with Brentford until 2022.#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/fitcEhhAa8

It seems crazy that in less than a season a player signed by a mid-table Championship side for an undisclosed fee believed to be less than £5 million can now be touted around to top flight for clubs for over six times what they paid for him. It seems even crazier considering that on Transfermarkt the talented Championship ace only has a valuation of a measly £3.15 million, even with his nine goals and 11 assists in the Championship.
As things stand, it really is hard to see a world in which Daniel Levy is happy to splash out a fee of anywhere near £30 million on a 23-year-old Algerian who has never even played in the Premier League. Whether Mauricio Pochettino wants the winger is a different issue entirely, but even the Argentine must understand that this kind of money for an unproven Championship star is ludicrous.
You can see what the Lilywhites have had to say about the supposed Benrahma price tag here:
I wonder how much they’d ask for him if it was Cardiff or Watford…?

Not happening.

30m for a championship player
Rather double that amount and get a actual marquee signing like ndombele , neves ,etc..— Llorismo (@MouraThis) March 21, 2019

The only player I would get for 30 mil in the championship is Grealish. Watched him he is good but nothing more than 20mil

The Lilywhites have no intentions of swooping for the Brentford man at such an extortionate price and will happily miss out on the Algerian.
