Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ben Davies has returned to first-team training following an ankle injury (via @SpursOfficial).
The Welshman was named in Jose Mourinho’s first ever starting 11 at Spurs in their 3-2 victory against West Ham United back in November. However, he picked up the injury in that game and hasn’t featured since, meaning he has missed their last 17 matches in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
But it seems that the 26-year-old is closing in on a return and Mourinho admitted that whilst he won’t be fit to face Southampton in the FA Cup, he could be in contention to play against Aston Villa on 16th February.

When asked whether the former Swansea man would be ready for the Villa game, the Portuguese said (via @AlasdairGold): “I believe so. He has been training with us since yesterday. After tomorrow the boys will have some time off, but not him. When we return for Villa he will be training fully for the week.”
Plenty of Tottenham fans are absolutely delighted that Davies is on the verge of making his return, with many insisting that it is a huge boost to have the defender back in the fold. Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…

That is great news!
Though he’ll have a tough job getting back into the first team with the mighty Tanganga playing like a legend 😁— 3️⃣4️⃣ days without a striker (@MattyFrench82) February 4, 2020
Huge, I only want him left back with Tanganga at right back. Any other thinking is wrong
