Despite being unable to come away from their game with Sheffield United without all three points on Saturday afternoon, Tottenham Hotspur fans still managed to appear optimistic about Giovani Lo Celso’s progress.
The Real Betis loanee, who will complete a permanent move to Spurs in the summer, has struggled to make the desired impact since arriving at the club with injuries having kept him out of Mauricio Pochettino’s side for the majority of the campaign so far.
According to TransferMarkt, the 23-year-old has already had to miss eight matches because of a hip injury, which has meant he has been limited to just eight appearances across all competitions so far.
However, fans appear to be liking what they are seeing from the Argentina international when given the opportunity to see him on the pitch. WhoScored collected data on his performance against the Blades on Saturday and it is not hard to see why there were some encouraged fans on social media.
Lo Celso managed to two shots, two key passes, two completed dribbles, two tackles, one clearance and a pass success rate of 82.5%.

I’m convinced it’s how they are being asked to play. Slow deliberate back & sideways football. Forwards basically facing the wrong way most of the match watching the back 5 play ping pong lol. Dele doing FIFA flicks like he’s in a playstation game. I thought Lo Celso was ok.

Another poor performance. Poch must take a huge amount of the blame for picking that back 4. Dier lived up to his name & Davies was also dreadful. Only bright point was Lo Celso who showed that he is a class act.
