Tottenham Hotspur: Fans fear for Giovani Lo Celso’s future under Jose Mourinho

Life under Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur appeared to get started extremely well on Saturday afternoon as they managed to ease past West Ham United, although many of the club’s faithful were starting to panic over the future of one of their stars already.

Giovani Lo Celso was an unused substitute in Spurs’ 3-2 victory over the Hammers at the London Stadium (BBC), with the Portuguese manager appearing to opt for Christian Eriksen when replacing Dele Alli as the game approached the final ten minutes.

Considering Mourinho’s comments regarding the Denmark international and his apparent desire to move away from north London, many felt it would have been the ample time for the manager to introduce the South American playmaker instead.

Indeed, the snub to Lo Celso did not go unnoticed on social media, with a number of the Lilywhites’ faithful suggesting that the 23-year-old could have an uphill task on his hands if he were to take permanent residency in the English capital.

Of course, the Argentina international has suffered with injuries since joining Tottenham on loan from Real Betis in the summer and had subsequently been unavailable for eight games during Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure.

There is every chance that Lo Celso will get an opportunity to impress his new manager in the coming weeks, especially with the hectic festive period starting to come into play, however this set of fans were not full of confidence regarding his future chances.

Here are just some of their reactions…
