Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that the club may not make any signings in the January transfer window, that is despite their current injury crisis.
It has been a bad week for Spurs who have lost two key players to fairly long term injuries. Moussa Sissoko was ruled out until April after having an operation on his knee (tottenhamhotspur.com) before it was then confirmed that Harry Kane would also be missing until April as he needs surgery on his hamstring (tottenhamhotspur.com).
So, perhaps some Tottenham fans could be forgiven in thinking the club could dip into the transfer market this month in order to bolster their depleted squad. However, if Mourinho’s latest comments are anything to go by then that may well be wishful thinking.
Speaking ahead of their game against Liverpool in the Premier League, the Portuguese manager told Alasdair Gold: “If the boss arrives with a solution to help me face these difficult months ahead then so be it. If not then we will wait for the summer for the next evolution of the team.”
After reading those comments, plenty of Spurs fans were left absolutely fuming that Daniel Levy may not actively back Mourinho in the transfer market this month. Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…
So this season has been written off.
