Lots of Tottenham Hotspur fans are loving Jose Mourinho’s plan to play Eric Dier permanently in central defence, which was reported by Football Insider and relayed by The Spurs Web on Twitter.
The article states that Dier himself thinks that the centre-back role is his best position and that it is the one he feels most comfortable with going forward.
The English international has already played in the centre of defence five times under the Portuguese coach this season, as per Transfermarkt, and the report suggests that he will continue being deployed there once the campaign resumes.
Dier has played in central defence a total of 93 times in his career according to Transfermarkt and it was his prime position when playing for Sporting Lisbon before he moved to Spurs.
Based off his stats it seems as if the 26-year old is relatively comfortable in both positions.
