Loads of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been raving about the talents of Giovani Lo Celso as the playmaker celebrated his 24th birthday on Thursday.
The Argentinian international seems to have become a firm favourite amongst supporters of the north London outfit, despite only joining them at the start of the current campaign. Indeed he arrived initially on loan from Real Betis last summer, before making it a permanent move in January for a fee believed to be £27.2 million (BBC Sport).
So far in his Spurs career, Lo Celso has made 28 appearances in all competitions, but has only scored two goals and has just one assist to his name (Transfermarkt). Looking deeper, the 21-time international’s stats haven’t been too impressive. Indeed he is averaging just 0.9 key passes and 0.5 shots per game in the Premier League, although from a defensive point of view he does make 1.6 tackles and wins 4.1 ground duels per match (SofaScore).
There is an argument to suggest that his below par stats could be down to that fact that although he has made 19 top flight appearances, only seven of those have been starts so he hasn’t really had that much time on the pitch yet.
Despite all this, it seems that in his time at the club so far he has impressed the Spurs faithful, with many of them waxing lyrical about him after the club posted a happy birthday message to him on their official Twitter account.
