The 21-year-old academy graduate is yet to play for the first team at Spurs, but he has been on the bench on four occasions in the Premier League and once in the Champions League this term (all information taken from Transfermarkt).
He has, though, played twice in this season’s EFL Trophy against League One duo Gillingham and Ipswich Town, whilst also making three appearances for the under-23’s in the Premier League 2.
Whiteman has also earned plenty of international recognition at youth level so far in his career. Indeed he has represented England at every level from under-16’s to under 19’s so far and according to Football.London he is highly rated by coaches at the FA.
Austin becomes the second young goalkeeper to pen a new deal at Tottenham, with Brandon Austin also recently agreeing fresh terms to keep him at the club until 2022 (tottenhamhotspur.com).
Plenty of Spurs fans were delighted to see another of their young prospects commit his future to the club, here is how some reacted to the news on Twitter…
