Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has moved a step closer to leaving the club this month after agreeing a four-and-a-half year deal with Inter Milan, that is according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
It is now down to the two clubs to agree terms for the transfer of the 27-year-old, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the current season. The Danish international has made it clear that he wishes to leave Spurs and he may get his wish this month if the move goes ahead.
Eriksen has been used more often by Jose Mourinho of late, indeed he has started in each of their last four games in all competitions (Transfermarkt). However, his displays haven’t been that great and in his most recent appearance against Liverpool he was given a rating of just 4/10 by the Daily Mail who described his performance as “passive.”
At this point a move away from north London this month looks the best thing for all parties. It would allow the player to leave as he desires, whilst it would also mean that Spurs get at least some money for him rather than losing him for nothing in the summer.
It seems that the fans would be more than happy for him to go to Inter Milan this month, with many taking to Twitter to urge the club to let him leave. Here is what some had to say after seeing that a deal could be edging closer…
