Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react to Alasdair Gold’s update on Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino wants to return to Tottenham Hotspur one day to finish what he started, according to BT Sport.

After five years in charge of the Lilywhites, Pochettino was unceremoniously sacked by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, following a disappointing start to the latest Premier League campaign.

The 47-year-old was appointed in May 2014 and famously steered his side to the Champions League final last year, where they fell short against rivals Liverpool in Madrid (BBC Sport).

Speaking to BT Sport, the Argentine admitted: “deep inside I want to go back because the fans are so special. Maybe in five years, maybe in 10 years, but before I die I want to manage Tottenham.”

He concluded: “I want to feel what it means to win one title with Tottenham because the fans are amazing, all the love we received was amazing and that is a good opportunity to pay back all the love they showed us from day one.”

Football correspondent Alasdair Gold shared the footage on Twitter, posting the clip with the caption: “I genuinely believe he will.”

Pochettino’s successor Jose Mourinho has endured a tricky start to his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, compounded by injuries to Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Steven Bergwijn, to name but a few.

At present, Mourinho’s squad are eighth in the English top flight, one point above Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, and four behind the Portuguese’s old club Manchester United.

Understandably, the journalist’s tweet provoked replies from the THFC faithful, with some expressing their love for the former boss. One fan even commented “Mourinho must leave” to pave the way for ‘Poch’ to return.
