Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react to Gabriel Barbosa transfer link

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa, that is according to a report from ESPN, via Ricky Sacks.

The Brazilian has recently spent time on loan at Flamengo where he impressed, scoring 34 goals and providing 11 assists in just 43 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

According to Football Italia, Flamengo want to keep the man also known as Gabigol permanently but the money that they are prepared to pay falls below Inter’s valuation.

They also report that another two Premier League clubs, as well as Spurs, are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, with West Ham and Crystal Palace both keen.

Tottenham’s first-choice striker Harry Kane picked up a hamstring injury recently against Southampton, so a new striker could well be high on Jose Mourinho’s list of priorities. No one other than the England captain has scored more than 6 goals in the Premier League this season, suggesting signing someone who can put the ball in the back of the net as a back-up could be important.

However, it seems that several Spurs fans don’t think that Gabigol is the answer, perhaps due to the fact that he has only ever managed to score two goals in European football – one with Benfica and one with Inter (Transfermarkt).

Here is what some had to say on Twitter about potentially signing the Brazilian…
