Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has revealed to the media a conversation between himself and young striker Troy Parrott ahead of Spurs’ Premier League clash with Norwich City.
The Portuguese has admitted that the 17-year-old has potential and will get minutes on the pitch this season, but also went on to say that he isn’t ready for the pressure of being the north London club’s first choice striker in the absence of Harry Kane (@AlasdairGold).
Kane is currently out of action with a hamstring injury and is unlikely to return until April at the earliest (tottenhamhotspur.com) which means that there is a vacancy up front.
Parrott is the club’s only other out and out centre-forward as they haven’t yet signed anyone else in the transfer window. But rather than playing the Republic of Ireland international in Kane’s place, Mourinho has instead opted to use Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura in that position.
It seems that most Spurs fans are in agreement with Mourinho’s assessment that Parrott isn’t yet ready to be a regular starter for the club. Indeed many have taken to Twitter to suggest that the former Real Madrid manager’s comments were absolutely right, here is what some had to say…
