Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that left-back Ben Davies is continuing his rehabilitation from an ankle injury, which would indicate that he remains unavailable for their next game against Southampton in the FA Cup (@SpursOfficial).
The Welsh international started in Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge against West Ham United at the London Stadium, but he only lasted 75 minutes before being substituted with injury (Transfermarkt).
That same problem has kept him out ever since, meaning that he has missed Spurs’ last 15 matches in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Left-back has been a problem area for Mourinho so far and he has struggled to settle on a regular starter in that position, with Danny Rose, Ryan Sessegnon, Jan Vertonghen and Japhet Tanganga all having started games there. The fact that Davies started in his first game, however, would indicate that the 26-year-old is the Portuguese manager’s preferred choice, so he will be frustrated that he has barely been able to use him so far in his reign.
With Spurs confirming that the former Swansea man is still continuing his rehabilitation, many fans have been left wondering when he will be back as they feel that they need him fit and in the team. Here is what some had to say after seeing the update on Twitter…
Foolishly thought Davies would be back for this one 😕

Davies went from ‘late stages of rehab’ a few weeks ago to being back included in updates with Kane/Sissoko. Doesn’t look good…
