Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has returned to first team training ahead of their trip to Aston Villa on Sunday (via @SpursOfficial).
The Argentinian had been struggling with a groin problem which forced him to miss their FA Cup fourth round replay against Southampton just prior to their winter break (Transfermarkt). There had been fears that the 23-year-old would also miss the game at Villa Park after a report from the Evening Standard revealed that he and his fellow Argentine Erik Lamela had both missed training on Wednesday.
However, it seems as though he will be in contention to play what is a crucial game for Spurs, who could close the gap between themselves and the top four to just one point with a win (BBC Sport) as fourth-placed Chelsea don’t play until Monday. Lo Celso made his loan move from Real Betis permanent in the January transfer window (BBC Sport) and has recently become a regular in Jose Mourinho’s team, starting in each of their last three Premier League outings (Transfermarkt).
