Tottenham Hotspur have announced that the club have completed the permanent transfer of Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis (via @SpursOfficial).
The Argentinian midfielder has spent the first half of the season on loan at Spurs, but the club had the option of either choosing to sign him permanently now or waiting until the summer where that option would become an obligation if they qualified for the Champions League.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have paid £27.2 million for Lo Celso, who has recently broken into Jose Mourinho’s team and has started in five of their last eight fixtures in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
News of the deal comes on the same day as another playmaker in Christian Eriksen left Spurs to join Inter Milan for £16.9 million (BBC Sport), so Lo Celso is likely to be a direct replacement for the Dane.
One thing is for sure and that is that most Tottenham fans are absolutely delighted to see the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder to sign permanently, with many taking to Twitter to express just how happy they are with the deal. Here is what some had to say….
