Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react to latest transfer news as Gareth Bale’s agent rules out return

Gareth Bale is unlikely to return to Tottenham Hotspur during the rest of his career, that is according to the Welshman’s agent Jonathan Barnett.

When asked whether the 30-year-old may go back to the north London club when his time at Real Madrid comes to an end, Barnett told talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show: “I don’t think so, no. He’s in a very fortunate position.

“When his contract is up hopefully he will sit down with me and his family and decide what he wants to do. Gareth is very happy over there.”

Bale previously played for Spurs between 2007-13, scoring 56 goals and providing 58 assists in 203 games for them (Transfermarkt). Since then he has been at Real Madrid where he has netted 105 goals in 246 appearances, whilst also winning four UEFA Champions League titles (Transfermarkt).

This season has been a tough one for him though. He has managed to make just 12 appearances in La Liga, nine of which were starts, due to a variety of injury problems (Transfermarkt). Indeed, a report from The Times suggested that Spurs tried to re-sign the forward on deadline day which had led to some believing that he would end up back in north London at some point, but that now looks unlikely following his agent’s comments.

However, it seems that most Spurs fans aren’t too upset about the prospect of Bale not returning to the club with some insisting that their new signing, Steven Bergwijn, is better anyway. Here is what some said about it on Twitter…
