Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in signing Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, that is according to a report from journalist Alasdair Gold.
It was earlier reported by Sky Sports that the north London club were keen on making an audacious late bid to sign the Danish international and that they had already started in their attempts to get him.
However, according to Gold a deal for the 24-year-old is unlikely and he insisted that even if there was interest, it is unlikely that the Saints would let him go in this window.
Hojbjerg has been an ever-present for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side this season, starting in 22 of their 23 Premier League matches (Transfermarkt). Added to that he has also captained the side in 19 of those matches, so he is certainly an important player at St Mary’s.
Plenty of Spurs fans have been reacting to the news that they are not in for Hojbjerg, with many suggesting on Twitter that they are glad about it as they either feel he isn’t good enough or isn’t the player they need at the moment. Here is what some had to say…
Thank the lord. He doesn’t excite me at all

For once I’m glad you’re that guy, he is not a player we need in an already packed position.

That’s good. Didn’t want him anyway. Not good enough

No problem, not fussed at all about getting Hojberg really. Really good player but we need a ST right now more than anything.
