Tottenham Hotspur remain in negotiations with Real Sociedad in an effort to sign striker Willian Jose, that is according to a report from Sky Sports.
It is suggested that Manchester United were also keen but have now withdrawn their interest, leaving Spurs in the clear to secure a deal. Sociedad are thought to be holding out for a fee of around £25 million before agreeing to let him go, however.
Considering the reports, Jose Mourinho seems likely to try and bring in a centre-forward on deadline day, with Harry Kane out of action until April with a hamstring injury he picked up against Southampton on New Year’s Day (tottenhamhotspur.com). Indeed, they have been linked with several options, including Olivier Giroud who according to the Telegraph may still leave Chelsea before the window closes if someone matches their asking price.
But this report suggests that Willian Jose is the man they want and interestingly the Brazilian has been left out of the La Liga outfit’s last three matchday squads (Transfermarkt) so there could well be a deal in the pipeline.
It seems that plenty of Tottenham fans want the 28-year-old to be signed, with many taking to Twitter to urge the club to get a deal done before the deadline. Here is what some had to say…
