Tottenham Hotspur: Fans stunned by Victor Wanyama statistics

It is fair to say that Victor Wanyama has become a forgotten man at Tottenham Hotspur in recent years.

The Kenyan barely ever features for the club anymore following a string of injury issues (Transfermarkt) which curtailed his Spurs career. Indeed this season he has managed to make just four appearances in all competitions and in total he has been on the pitch for just 122 minutes (Transfermarkt).

There was a time though when the 28-year-old was a vital player for the north London club and a post from @thespursweb highlighting some of his statistics from the 2016/17 campaign has emerged on Twitter recently.

It was his first season with the club having joined from Southampton in the summer of 2016 for £11 million (BBC Sport) and at the point when the graphic was taken he had made more tackles in the Premier League than any other Spurs player, whilst also having covered the second most distance and made the second most passes amongst his team mates.

Several Tottenham supporters have been reacting to the post, with plenty reflecting fondly on just how good Wanyama was for them in the early days of his career at the north London club.
