Tottenham Hotspur are considering hiring former Arsenal favourite Steve Morrow as their new head of academy coaching and development, that is according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The north London club are currently looking for someone to replace John McDermott, who left them to take up a role within the FA. According to the report, Morrow has been placed on a shortlist of candidates to replace him.
The 49-year-old was a player for Spurs’ fierce rivals and scored a famous goal in the 1993 League Cup final before breaking his arm in the post-match celebrations after colliding with Tony Adams, which saw him miss the rest of the season (Metro).
He has since become well known for helping to develop young players and whilst with the Gunners he was partly responsible for bringing through the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka, Alex Iwobi and Reiss Nelson. However, he was let go by the club when Edu came in and hired his own staff.
Journalist Ricky Sacks relayed reports of Morrow potentially joining Tottenham on Twitter and it fair to say that it hasn’t gone down well, with many urging the club not to bring him in…
