Spurs were 1-0 down to Watford at the time of the substitution as the Argentine manager turned to fellow compatriot, Erik Lamela, to try and turn the game around as he sacrificed the Brazil international.
Tottenham did manage to rescue a draw when Dele Alli saw his goal count after being checked by VAR, as the fell behind to a 6th minute Abdoulaye Doucoure effort (Sky Sports).
However fans were furious with Pochettino’s decision earlier in the game as many of them believed it could have cost them.
According to data collected by WhoScored, Lucas had managed to contribute with two shots, one key pass, 80% passing accuracy and won four aerial duels, however that was not enough to keep him on the pitch for a little longer than an hour.
Supporters took to Twitter to slam Pochettino for the decision, with many of them leaving angry remarks on the club’s official account.
