Tottenham Hotspur: Fans urge club to sign Edinson Cavani

Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social media to urge the club to sign Edinson Cavani in the January transfer window.

Spurs are currently on the lookout for a new striker after it was confirmed that Harry Kane requires surgery on a hamstring injury, which will mean that he cannot return to training until April at the earliest (via tottenhamhotspur.com).

As a result of the England captain’s injury, several forwards have been linked with the club in the media. Indeed The Sun report that AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek is on the verge of a £28 million move to north London, whilst Goal suggest that Lyon’s Moussa Dembele is a target.

However, it seems that some Spurs fans would rather their club tried to sign Uruguay hitman Cavani. He is currently out of favour at Paris Saint Germain due to a combination of injuries and the fact that they now have Mauro Icardi, starting just four times in Ligue 1 this term (Transfermarkt).

He is though still considered one of European football’s most lethal strikers and only last season he scored 23 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt). Added to that, he could also be a lot cheaper than the other names bandied about, with the Daily Mail suggesting PSG would only want £8.5 million for his services.

Here is what some Tottenham supporters said about potentially signing Cavani on Twitter…
