Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been urging Toby Alderweireld to sign a new contract with the club on social media recently.
The Belgian centre-back has been an ever-present for Spurs in recent seasons. Indeed he played 50 times in all competitions last season, including 12 times in the Champions League as he helped them reach the final (Transfermarkt).
He has once again been a key player this term and has started 16 of their 17 Premier League fixtures so far (Transfermarkt).
However, there are question marks about the 30-year-old’s future at the club due to the fact that his contract is set to expire at the end of the season (Transfermarkt) and he is yet to show any concrete signs of penning a new deal.
It remains unknown whether the ex-Atletico Madrid man will agree fresh terms at the north London club, but you would think that Spurs would want him to put pen-to-paper given that he is a first-team regular and is still valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt.
One thing is for sure and that is that most Tottenham fans would love him to extend his stay. After the Belgian tweeted “#COYS” recently, several supporters responded and urged Alderweireld to sign a new contract.
