Football London journalist Rob Guest has been purring over the performance of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Eberechi Eze against Derby County on Tuesday and has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur should sign him in the summer.
The 21-year-old was previously linked with a move to Spurs by The Athletic back in late December but he did not end up going anywhere in the January transfer window and remained at Loftus Road.
However, after producing a strong display against the Rams in a recent Championship fixture in which he enjoyed 63 touches and provided one assist (SofaScore), Guest believes that he should swap west London for north London in the summer and join Spurs.
In a piece written for Football London, Guest said: “Eze was sensational in the second half [v Derby] and QPR have a real job on their hands to keep hold of him this summer.
“A player who has caught Tottenham’s eye with his displays in the Championship, a summer move seems a bit of a no-brainer for Jose Mourinho and the club as they look to build a team for the future.”
Eze has certainly impressed with his performances in the second tier this season. He has been directly involved in 18 goals for QPR, providing seven assists and scoring 11 himself (Transfermarkt).

Goals from midfield are something that Spurs are lacking following the sale of Christian Eriksen. Dele Alli has chipped in with eight in all competitions but Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso and Eric Dier have scored just six between them (Transfermarkt). Whilst Eze’s goals have come at a lower level, he is only 21 and therefore has scope to improve considerably over the next few years.
Tottenham already have several exciting young talents such as Ryan Sessegnon, Troy Parrott and Japhet Tanganga, whilst Alli and Steven Bergwijn are only 23 and 22 respectively. Adding Eze to their squad of promising youngsters would make the future look even brighter for Spurs and Jose Mourinho.
