Journalist Dean Jones, speaking to GiveMeSport, has made a promising Tottenham Hotspur transfer claim involving Leicester City playmaker James Maddison.

The Lowdown: Paratici eyeing attacker?

After sealing a plethora of deals already this summer transfer window, despite seemingly focusing on outgoings this week, it is believed that Spurs may not be done in trying to bring more players through the door.

Indeed, The Evening Standard suggest that while sales are currently priority, sporting director Fabio Paratici could yet target another central defender and creative attacker for manager Antonio Conte.

Foxes star Maddison has been mooted as a Premier League target recently with reporter Jones now hinting that the Lilywhites could well pull a deal off before deadline day.

The Latest: Jones drops Maddison hint...

Speaking to GMS, the journalist claims Spurs have made contact over Maddison, who would come at a marquee cost, but a deal for the player 'would not be impossible'.

He explained:

“I’m told Spurs have touched base over Maddison and a deal would not be impossible but it would cost them a lot of money. Probably more than they would want to spend. But you never know, the door isn’t closed.”

The Verdict: Make the move?

Described as 'unplayable' on his day by pundit and former Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves, the Englishman would be a stellar capture for Spurs on top of an already impressive window.

According to WhoScored, Maddison stood out as manager Brendan Rodgers' best-performing regular over 2021/2022 whilst making more key passes per 90 than any of his teammates.

The 25-year-old's productivity in the final third is further backed by his 12 goals and eight assists last campaign, and depending on the specific price tag, Maddison may well be worth the effort to sign.
