Tottenham Hotspur: Sergio Reguilon drops hint as Spurs face potential future blow

Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, via ESPN correspondent Alex Kirkland, Tottenham summer signing Sergio Reguilon dropped some cryptic news over his future in north London – going on to state that him returning to Real Madrid is a ‘possibility’.

Reguilon, who has shined for manager Jose Mourinho in the left-back role since putting pen to paper on a summer move, could feasibly leave Tottenham in the future due to a buyback clause inserted in the deal by his former club.

Reguilon buyback worry

Indeed, the clause states that Real could opt to re-sign Reguilon in a £27.5 million move, with chairman Daniel Levy powerless to stop such an occurrence from happening.

Recent reports have even come to light hinting at the Galacticos’ desire to bring him back in future, especially considering the downturn in form of Marcelo at the Bernabeu.

Now, opening up over that very scenario, Reguilon has hinted that going back to Spain is a ‘possibility’ and has refused to rule it out – potentially a future blow for Mourinho.

Transfer Tavern take

An inside claim courtesy of Football Insider revealed that staff members have been blown away by the 23-year-old since his arrival, with words such as ‘phenomenal’ and ‘brilliant’ being used behind the scenes.

Bearing this in mind, it’s feasible to say Reguilon has been one of Spurs’ most outstanding summer acquisitions so far alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

If Tottenham were to lose him in future, it would be a huge blow based off his performances so far, with Lilywhites certainly hoping this doesn’t happen.
