Tottenham keen on Daniel Sturridge

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have a proven Premier League goalscorer on their radar this summer.

According to a report in The Daily Mirror, (February 12, 2019, page 56), via HITC Sport, Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge is thought to have attracted some interest.

Tottenham are not thought to be the only club interested in the striker, who is out of contract in the summer, with a number of teams all over the place keen on snapping him up on a free.

The 29-year-old, who has scored 77 goals in his 213 Premier League appearances, is believed to be seen as an ideal candidate to serve as a back up for Harry Kane, with the futures of Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente in doubt.

However, whether Sturridge would be ready to move to White Hart Lane to play second fiddle remains to be seen, as it is currently a role he occupies at Anfield.

The Verdict:

With Sturridge appearing set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, it does not come as a surprise to see a number of clubs interested in him.

There is no doubt that he would be an upgrade on the likes of Janssen and Llorente, however, Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham may have some trouble landing him as it will likely be that he has offers to play regular first-team football for another club elsewhere.

Entering the peak of his career, the 29-year-old is going to want regular minutes on the pitch, and with the way Kane is currently performing, it is unlikely that is going to happen for him at Spurs.
