Tottenham has been offered the chance to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, after the Germany international rejected Bayern’s initial contract extension offer. Sane’s current deal with the Bundesliga champions is set to expire this summer, with the club hoping to extend his contract until 2028.
Tottenham has the chance to sign Sane if they can better Bayern’s contract offer to the player.
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Sane has rejected an initial offer of £250,000 per week from Bayern over concerns with terms in the contract being more variable based than fixed. Plettenberg also revealed that Sane’s agent Pini Zahavi is in Germany to speak to Bayern sporting director Max Eberl regarding the situation, while the player has not yet made a decision.
“Leroy Sane’s agent Pini Zahaviis in Germany to meet with Bayern Munich officials regarding the future of the 29-year-old winger,” said Plettenberg.
“Zahavi will speak with sporting director Max Eberl, while his other client, Jonathan Tah, undergoes his medical with Bayern.”
“Bayern remain open to extending Sane’s contract until 2028. The current offer may be adjusted — more fixed, less variable.”
“Sane had rejected an initial offer of £250,000 per week and Tottenham had been offered the chance to sign him.”
“His current deal expires at the end of June. Sane has not yet made a decision. Everything remains open.”
Spurs offered Sane

Tottenham enter this summer’s window with renewed optimism having clinched Champions League football for next season. Spurs defeated Man United 1-0 in last week’s Europa League final in Bilbao to end a 17-year trophy drought and secure a place in Europe’s top competition despite finishing 17th in the Premier League.
Manager Ange Postecoglou delivered on his promise to bring a trophy to North London in his second season, and will now look to add reinforcements to push his side up the league table. Tottenham are expected to be in the market for forward players, having been linked to Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, Ipswich’s Liam Delap, and Brentford’s Byran Mbeumo.
They also have the option to activate the £45 million buy-option for Mathys Tel who they signed in January on loan from Bayern Munich. Sane has now been added to this mix and could interest Postecoglou.
Sane will have fond memories of the Premier League, having been a part of Pep Guardiola’s all conquering side. After joining Man City in 2016, he won two Premier League titles in 2018 and 2019 before departing for Bayern in 2020.
Sane also bagged an FA Cup and three League Cup titles during his time in England, and would bring experience and leadership to the Tottenham ranks. The 29 year old is a serial winner, boasting four Bundesliga titles as well including this season’s triumph.
He would represent a massive signal of intent for Tottenham as well as good business as a free transfer.
