Tottenham’s season has been turbulent, with the club currently sitting 16th in the Premier League and enduring a winless streak stretching back to December.
Their struggles in domestic cup competitions have been equally disappointing, exiting both the EFL Cup and FA Cup. Their current poor run of form ultimately led to the dismissal of Thomas Frank earlier this month, with Igor Tudor having now been appointed as interim manager until the end of the campaign.
Even before Tudor has had a chance to take charge, Spurs are reportedly looking ahead to the summer transfer window, targeting reinforcements to reshape their squad for next season.
Spurs Initiate Rudiger Talks
Sources close to the agent network have told CaughtOffside that Tottenham — along with West Ham and Crystal Palace — have “initiated discussions” over a potential summer move for Antonio Rüdiger.
The 32-year-old German centre-back is in the final months of his Real Madrid contract and has seen his minutes limited this season.
Nevertheless, his reputation remains strong, having been praised for being an “aggressive” defender by former Liverpool star Graeme Souness. Clubs across Europe are monitoring his situation closely.
Rüdiger joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in 2022, arriving with a reputation as one of Europe’s most combative and reliable defenders. Despite a reduced role in Spain this season, his wealth of domestic and European experience makes him an appealing long-term target for Spurs as they look to solidify their backline.
If Tottenham can finalize a deal for Rüdiger, it would mark a significant statement of intent under Igor Tudor, signaling the club’s ambition to address defensive frailties while blending experience with the younger talent already at the club.
