Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have a lot to talk about ahead of this afternoon’s crucial North London derby with Arsenal, as a wealth of gossip surrounds their club.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are set for a busy transfer window at the end of the season, as they eye additions that can improve their chances of winning the Premier League next season and bolster their squad for the Champions League.
Naturally, players will leave White Hart Lane during the summer shake-up but Dutch striker Vincent Janssen has told The Sun he will not be on the way out, after a majorly disappointing debut campaign at the club.
Last summer’s striker signing has failed to impress in the Premier League this term, scoring just six goals across all competitions- four of which have been from the penalty spot.
That’s raised questions as to whether the Dutch forward can cut it in English football but Janssen is not ready to give up and remains adamant he will be with Spurs again next season.
“There have been a lot of rumours about me leaving but I have not been at the club for a year yet. When I joined I signed a long contract and I am happy here.”
“Of course I am disappointed with my number of goals but I am not a quitter. I like the club — my team-mates, the staff, the fans, the training, everything — and we are doing well, so why would I leave?”
Our landlord is pleased with the determination that Janssen is showing but believes he faces a major test to secure regular first-team football, as he feels Pochettino could sign a new striker this summer.
