Tottenham Legend. A frankly overused phrase. The Tottenham Hotspur Hall Of Fame at White Hart Lane is in itself a bone of contention for many free thinking fans.

To guide us of course are the’ stats’. So try these for size. Jimmy Greaves is the greatest finisher in the history of the game. 220 Tottenham goals in 320 games. In the cup he added another 46 goals from 60 matches. For England he scored 44 times in 57 games.
So I don’t say this lightly, Jimmy was the best ever.
Seventy? I’m unconvinced. Many things that are seventy years old are either behind glass in a museum or ought to be.
I went to see one of Jim’s shows towards the end of last year. Wow. This is a man is still very much firing on all cylinders.
The show is a slick tour de force of all things football. The master of ceremonies is Jimmy’s friend and agent, the polished Terry Baker. The guest stars are all household names. What works brilliantly is that this production is a great insight into Greavsie himself. You will be laughing outloud one minute and having a heartstring tugged by a nearly lost memory the next.
Well, Greavsie’s in the smoke tonight. It’s a biggie. Jimmy Greaves didn’t do things by half in his career on the pitch and things haven’t changed now he’s entertaining off it.
