According to an update by reliable Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold, young winger Jack Clarke is one of the players who ‘could leave Spurs‘ in January – with the club having to make a decision over him either staying at Hotspur Way or going out on loan in an effort to aid his development.
Clarke, who was apparently meant to stay in north London, with the club rebuffing offers from various Championship clubs over the summer window, could now be considered for a January move away due to his lack of game time.
Should Jack Clarke move away in January?
100%, needs game time
No, let him learn from the best
Indeed, as per Gold, Jose Mourinho faces a call over the youngster in this potential January twist – with the original plan being for him to stay at Hotspur Way and learn from the likes of Gareth Bale as he continues his development.
Now, Tottenham could well consider sending him out on loan after all, despite their previously firm stance.
Clarke could prove useful if major absences hit the squad, but he may also be considered for a January exit as Mourinho looks to trim his squad and it would take a lot of players getting injured or suspended before the youngster got into the first-team reckoning.
Transfer Tavern take
This update comes after Gold revealed that the youngster has been ‘really impressing‘ the Tottenham boss ‘behind the scenes‘ – but only time will tell whether the club accept any offers for him in the winter window.
As this twist emerges, regardless of the club rejecting numerous advances in the summer, he could now move away in January despite his efforts at Hotspur Way – especially considering he has played just 26 minutes in the Europa League this season.
Lilywhites will have to see how this one goes, but Clarke could now be an exit candidate.
