Tottenham continue their pre-season in the United States tomorrow, after securing an emphatic 4-1 victory over AS Roma in their last outing. Indeed, after such an impressive performance last time out, supporters are in fine voice and can’t wait to see their side in action once again.
The London club haven’t really made the most of the summer transfer window as Mauricio Pochettino seems to be satisfied with the squad that he already has at his disposal. But, with Spurs’ rivals strengthening as the transfer window progresses, this could come back to bite them in the near future.
Next up for Tottenham is a game with Spanish giants Barcelona. It will be very interesting to see how a young Spurs squad fares against a Barcelona side that have recently secured the signature of Brazilian star Malcom. But, if their last performance was anything to go by then Mauricio Pochettino’s men shouldn’t struggle to put in another top performance against arguably an even bigger test.

TOTTENHAM’S POTENTIAL TEAM VS BARCELONA
We’ve gone with a 4-2-3-1 formation, as that is the formation that Mauricio Pochettino enjoyed so much success from in the last campaign. This allows the wingers to make use of space out wide and ensures defensive solidity in the form of two defensive-minded midfielders.
Spurs are still waiting for Hugo Lloris to return after winning the World Cup with France, so Pochettino will look to make use of Michel Vorm once again in-between the sticks.
In defence, Serge Aurier will slot in at right-back and Ben Davies will line up on the opposite flank, as both men will be fighting for a starting place when the season gets underway, so minutes on the field against a tough opposition will be crucial. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Davinson Sanchez will form the heart of Tottenham’s defence, with the Colombian set to feature for the first time since the World Cup.
Moussa Sissoko will form a partnership in the midfield with Oliver Skipp, a player that is very highly rated and could find himself enjoying a similar breakthrough to Harry Winks if he manages to grind out a couple of impressive performances over the course of pre-season.
Erik Lamela will be looking to show what he’s made of on this trip, with the perfect opportunity being against Spanish giants Barcelona. Similarly, Christian Eriksen will be looking to showcase his skills and lead by example as one of the more senior members in the side, while Georges Kevin-Nkoudou will have a point to prove after being shipped out on loan to Burnley last season.
Meanwhile, Son Heung-min will lead the line for Spurs in the absence of Harry Kane, while Fernando Llorente will be given a well-earned rest after grabbing a brace last time out.
