The Daily Star have Tottenham Hotspur fans looking up from their pints here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Roberto Soldado has received a firm backing from his manager.
The Spanish forward has been under fire from fans since his £26 million move from Spain and has not done half as well as compatriot Alvaro Negredo – who cost half the money as well.
Now it seems that the former Valencia forward is set to stay at Spurs, despite the pressure, with Tim Sherwood making it clear that he has faith in the player.
He claimed: “It’s just a matter of time before Robbie hits the target again, starts scoring and gets on a run.
“He’s a good trainer and he’s just got to stick at it. We’ve all been professional footballers, so we know what it’s like.

“I’m not putting pressure on him and he’s not putting pressure on himself.”
Spurs will be in the market for a another forward come the transfer window in the summer and before they decide which tavern special burger to order, a group of our punters note that Soldado better start scoring soon, or he will totally surrender his starting berth to Emmanuel Adebayor.
