The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a Premier League title challenge this season…
It has been a while since the Gunners were genuinely competitive in the top flight, with Arsene Wenger’s side typically happy to settle for a top four finish in recent years.
However, last season was a wake-up call for the Gunners after Wenger’s side finished outside of the top four, and so a far better performance is expected this season.
As a result, they’ll need all the quality and the bodies that they can get, and Arsene Wenger has delivered a positive news update on the return of Jack Wilshere. The Englishman has often been injury prone in recent years, but Wenger appears confident on the matter.
He described the midfielder as ‘not far away’ from full fitness, but not before adding that he would need match fitness before securing a full Arsenal return.

On his day, nobody is better than Jack Wilshere – and so his return will undoubtedly be a boost.
He was on loan at Bournemouth last season, and for the most part, he looked very good indeed.
Landlord’s Verdict
Jack Wilshere has really struggled with injury, but if Wenger is to be believed, he is beginning to look sharper and fitter.
He really needs a full season at the highest level if he wants to have any chance of reaching his potential, and the Gunners really need him this season.
A return date has not been announced, but it is clearly edging closer.
