Former West Bromwich Albion star Carlton Palmer has been impressed with the club’s move to sign Kean Bryan.

The Baggies made a move to bring the defender into the club from Sheffield United in the summer transfer window.

West Brom have signed Bryan on a free transfer after he decided to leave the Blades at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has yet to make his debut for the club but, in 2020/21, he made a total of 13 Premier League appearances at Bramall Lane.

He can also play as a defensive midfielder and came through the ranks at Manchester City, while spending time on loan at Bury and Oldham Athletic, prior to his move to the Blades. He also went on loan to Bolton and will now hope to set down roots at the Hawthorns.

Palmer believes that Bryan wanted to move to another Premier League club but feels that the deal to take him to West Brom is a good one for both parties.

He said: “Well, apparently they were interested in him in the summer but they weren’t able to get the deal over the line.

“I think Kean tried to get a club better than the Championship and it didn’t materialise for him so I think it’s good business for both parties now. He should be comfortable at that level, so it’s worked out for both parties.”
