West Ham were able to put their 4-0 heavy Premier League defeat to Manchester City behind them after they beat Newcastle 3-0 at St. James’ Park on Saturday.
A brace from Javier Hernandez and stoppage-time goal from Felipe Anderson ensured it was a comfortable victory for the Hammers in the end in what was a very good team display from the front to the back.
And while Hernandez will likely receive most of the plaudits for his side’s recent win, Anderson also deserves a lot of credit for his performance on the day.
He gave DeAndre Yedlin a torrid time down the left flank with his skill and trickery, while the likes of Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez also failed to contain the Brazilian once he started to pop up in more central areas just outside the box.
All in all, it was an impressive showing from £31.5m-rated (Transfermarkt) Anderson. After a slow start to life at the London Stadium, he is now starting to truly flourish.
