West Ham: Fans divided on Olivier Giroud following transfer link

West Ham United are interested in signing French striker Olivier Giroud from Chelsea in the January transfer window, that is according to a report from The Sun.

The 33-year-old has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge this season under Frank Lampard, falling behind Tammy Abraham in the pecking order and starting just twice in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

But the report suggests that the ex-Arsenal man is a top target for new Hammers boss David Moyes and that the club’s board would be willing to support the Scot by signing Giroud.

The east London outfit have lacked much of a goal scoring threat this term, netting just 21 times in 19 games (BBC Sport).

Summer signing Sebastien Haller had started the season well with three goals in his first three league appearances, but more recently has bagged just once in 11 games (Transfermarkt) so they could certainly do with some competition for him.

However, it seems that the West Ham fans are split on whether or not Giroud would be a good signing. Some suggest that he would be as an experienced Premier League forward, whilst others think he is too old and that the club would be going backwards if they got him.

Here is what some supporters had to say about the Frenchman on Twitter…
