A lot of West Ham fans are debating whether there is a future for Manuel Lanzini at West Ham after his struggles to play first-team football this season.
The attacking Argentinian midfielder arrived in East London from Al-Jazira originally on loan in 2015, and then was signed permanently for £10.80 million in July 2016 via Transfermarkt.
Indeed, he had an impressive first season for the Irons, scoring seven times in 31 appearances but the player started to suffer more injuries season by season and had been injured for a total of 522 days in the four-and-a-half-years he has been at the club. This included a cruciate ligament rupture injury, which ruled him out for 256 days in 2018/19.
Some players struggle to find their form after such a long spell of injury and this is true for Lanzini, who has only scored once and assisted five times since that ligament injury. Now with West Ham signing Pablo Fornals and possibly looking into signing Soucek permanently, perhaps his days could be numbered.
