West Ham United are facing a potential goalkeeper problem over the Christmas period after Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that neither Lukasz Fabianski nor David Martin are 100% fit (@Sam_InkersoleTM).
Fabianski has, of course, been out for a while now after picking up a hip injury, missing the last 10 Premier League matches (Transfermarkt). He is closing in on a return to action but isn’t quite fully up to speed.
As for Martin, he has started each of their last four league outings and has done pretty well, keeping two clean sheets (Transfermarkt). However, he has also picked up a hip injury which means that he is not 100% (football.london).
All this means that the only fully fit goalkeeper is Roberto, who was dropped in favour of Martin recently following a string of awful performances in which he conceded 14 goals in just six starts (Transfermarkt).
If the other two stoppers aren’t ready to play, then Pellegrini may be forced to start the Spaniard, but it is clear that most fans would rather start anyone but Roberto.
Here is what some said about it on Twitter…
Better off using a youth GK. Supporters will riot if a certain keeper starts.

Don’t let Roberto anywhere near a shirt….

As long as Roberto doesn’t play in either, I’m not worried

Even a 75% fit Fabianski is better than that fraud Roberto

Put or tallest defender in goal instead
