In what has been a very good period for the club following consecutive wins in the Premier League versus Newcastle United, Cardiff City and Crystal Palace, supporters have since been given something else to smile about with the extension of a fan favourite’s contract.
Yesterday, West Ham announced that the club had activated the one-year extension option in captain Mark Noble’s contract with the 31-year-old going on to talk about how delighted he is to be staying at the London Stadium for a further year.
“It was an option in my contract that I signed a few years ago now, and it’s an extra year, which is fantastic for me and my family,” Noble told West Ham’s official club website. “I’ve been at this club all my life – I’ve always said I wanted to be at this club and I think we’re moving in the right direction, so it was the right time to do it.”
With the introduction of Manuel Pellegrini as manager, many thought that Noble, who is not the most technical of midfielders, would be deemed as surplus to requirements by the Chilean.
However, that has not been the case with Pellegrini having used his skipper frequently this season, making the decision to use the one-year extension clause in his contract a wise one.
