West Ham fans were left devastated when the jewel in their crown, Manuel Lanzini suffered a devastating knee ligament injury last summer. The blow cost him a place in Argentina’s World Cup squad and has seen him miss the start of the Manuel Pellegrini era, better late than never though, as he could return for Fulham next Friday.

West Ham fans were first and foremost gutted for their star man when he suffered his injury. The World Cup in Russia would have been his first, and the chance to play alongside the greatest footballer of all time in a World Cup was taken from him when he suffered the blow. However, whether or not he’d have been able to help Lionel Messi and co advance past the round of 16 is a different story.
Now, though, that World Cup disappointment is behind him and the Hammers are hoping the 25-year-old creator can be ready to fire them up the table. At the moment, Pellegrini has got the Irons fighting for 7th and with the timely boost of Lanzini’s return they could easily rise and claim that spot, despite being six points behind Wolves at the moment.
